Still

           Still

Still is the night as I listen to the heartbreaking anguish of another family member speaking through tears on the loss of a loved one and asking “Why God dear God why”?
News anchors tell out the senseless killings in the streets as the body count adds up in real time.

Still is my heart as gun shots sound in the not too far distance and I quickly make my way down the hall towards the rooms of my kids.
I do my own head count checking to make sure each one of my children are all safe and accounted for.
I watch them sleep and I pray to God to walk with them as they make their way to and from school, work and wherever their feet may carry them.

I pray that they make it safely back home within these walls where they are loved and secured.
I pray for the families that are suffering from the tragic loss of their loved ones taken in what always seems to soon. I pray that the killings stop like a watch that is broken; forever frozen in a time that no longer exist.
